چکیده
Background: We have been performing a canalith repositioning procedure for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. When we adopted the Epley maneuver posterior semicircular canal type, and affected-ear-up 90° lateral noticed that no nystagmus occurred in sitting position just after treatment. Despite direct excitation to utricle by pathological debris, none of subjects complained dizziness. Thus, hypothesized dizziness do not occur stimulation otolith organs. Objective: The aim study was observe record eye movements induced organs confirm our hypothesis. Materials Methods: Twelve healthy humans were tested. In position, head tilted right ear 45° vice versa. Afterward, bent forward (nose-down), subject’s seat reclined head-hanging position. Each kept five seconds. interviewed assess their Results: None showed every Conclusions: Nystagmus does organs; therefore, ocular counter-rolling is reflex.

Motion sickness induced by otolith stimulation is correlated with otolith-induced eye movements.
This article addresses the relationships between motion sickness (MS) and three-dimensional (3D) ocular responses during otolith stimulation. A group of 19 healthy subjects was tested for motion sickness during a 16 min otolith stimulation induced by off-vertical axis rotation (OVAR) (constant velocity 60 degrees /s, frequency 0.16 Hz). For each subject, the MS induced during the session was qu...
متن کاملSuppression of smooth pursuit eye movements induced by electrical stimulation of the monkey frontal eye field.
This study was performed to characterize the properties of the suppression of smooth pursuit eye movement induced by electrical stimulation of the frontal eye field (FEF) in trained monkeys. At the stimulation sites tested, we first determined the threshold for generating electrically evoked saccades (Esacs). We then examined the suppressive effects of stimulation on smooth pursuit at intensiti...
متن کاملEye movements evoked by cerebellar stimulation in the alert monkey.
CEREBELLAR STIMULATION has long been known to evoke eye movements (I 1, 20). Such evoked movements have been reinvestigated by many others (e.g., 8, 19, 21, 28) and most recently by Cohen et al. (5). There is not much agreement among the many studies concerning which areas of the cerebellum produce eye movements when stimulated and the nature and direction of those movements. The only agreement...
متن کاملEye movements evoked by collicular stimulation in the alert monkey.
Electrical stimulation of the superior colliculi of alert, behaving monkeys evoked all-or-nothing saccades whose amplitude and direction were independent of stimulus parametersand depth within the colliculus. They were also independent of initial eye position and werethus not goal-directed. Across the colliculus, the saccades were small (1”) rostrally, large (50”)caudally with u...
متن کاملEye movements induced by pontine stimulation: interaction with visually triggered saccades.
1. Rhesus monkeys were trained to look to brief visual targets presented in an otherwise darkened room. On some trials, after the visual target was extinguished but before a saccade to it could be initiated, the eyes were driven to another orbital position by microstimulation of the paramedian pontine reticular formation. If, as current models of the saccadic system suggest, a copy of the motor...
